Job 1:8-11 Inner Hedge
Job 1:8-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Job 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The LORD extols Job’s integrity and tests whether he serves God for blessings, allowing Satan to test him by threatening his possessions.
Neville's Inner Vision
Job is not a man apart but your own state of consciousness—an I AM awareness that is upright and whole. When God says, consider my servant Job, he invites you to attend to the state you are living from, not to chase outward signs. Satan’s question, 'Doth Job fear God for nought?' is the voice of doubt inside you, testing whether you love what you have more than who you are. The hedge about him is the mental boundary of awareness you draw about your life; the blessing of abundance is the felt quality of your inner state showing up as outer form. When the test comes—‘touch all that he hath’—what is revealed is not God’s caprice but your own belief about supply and safety. If you remain centered in the I AM, your inward state remains unchanged, and the outer array bends to reflect that steadfast consciousness. Providence is simply the law by which the inner man manifests; the world is a faithful echo of your present assumption. You are asked to dwell in the assumption of perfect security and watch the appearance adapt to your inner rightness.
Practice This Now
Assume the state you desire: imagine you are already the unshaken I AM, and revise any fear by declaring 'I am the hedge of consciousness; nothing can touch my inner reality,' then feel it real.
