Inner Virtue Of Job's Faith

Job 1:1-5 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Scripture Focus

1There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
2And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.
3His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
4And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
5And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

Biblical Context

Job 1:1-5 presents a man of integrity, wealth, and devout care for his family, laying a foundation of virtue. The passage invites us to see inner states as the source of outward life.

Neville's Inner Vision

Consider Job not as a man of Uz outside you, but as the state of perfect awareness within. The 'man' is your I AM, the unwavering consciousness that fears nothing but forgetfulness of itself. His wealth and large household are the fullness of faculties—eyes that see, hands that act, and a mind that can manage many concerns—drawn to reflect harmony rather than lack. The daily offerings are not external ritualism but mental revision: Job sanctifies his world by affirming that no thought has truly departed from divine order. When he says 'It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts,' he recognizes the possibility of discord within but does not permit it to rule; he corrects the inner alphabet, returning to the truth that I AM is the only reality. In Neville's terms, this is a state of provision maintained by faithful imagination, not by accident or fortune. Your task is to align your inner state with this state of perfection—perfect uprightness, trust in the I AM, and a disciplined act of blessing your inner 'household' with gratitude and completion.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume you are the I AM, perfectly upright and provided. Feel the assurance as if Job’s wealth and blessings are already your present experience; bless your inner family with a simple, grateful state and revise any doubt.
