Inner Return Jeremiah 8:4-9

Jeremiah 8:4-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 8 in context

Scripture Focus

4Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return?
5Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.
6I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.
7Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.
8How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain.
9The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the LORD; and what wisdom is in them?
Jeremiah 8:4-9

Biblical Context

The people have turned away, refusing to repent and heed the Lord's call, slipping into deceit. They do not recognize the appointed times and the inner judgment of the LORD.

Neville's Inner Vision

Jeremiah 8:4-9 offers a map of inner weather: Shall you fall and not arise? shall you turn away and not return? The outer city is but your inner state when you cling to deceit and neglect to return to the LORD within. Listen: I hearken and hear, yet the mind speaks not aright when it refuses repentance. Your true wisdom is not found in the scribal pen but in the living law written in consciousness. The judgments of the LORD are the inner reckonings that arise when attention drifts from the I AM; know that the times and seasons you observe are the rhythms of your own awareness. To say, 'We are wise, the law is with us' is to mistake knowledge for awakening. The wise are ashamed because they have rejected the word of the LORD; in you, this shows as failure to revise and re-enter the feeling-state of oneness with the I AM. Return is always possible when you insist that the inner now is God, and God is your awareness.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: In the next moment, assume the state of return—declare, 'I am returned to the I AM now,' and let that feeling saturate every thought until it feels real.
