Inner Peace Amid False Security
Jeremiah 8:10-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 8 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Covetousness and a counterfeit peace reveal inner decay. Outward security will fail and judgment follows.
Neville's Inner Vision
All the words of Jeremiah are not mere history; they are states of consciousness that breathe in you right now. When you cling to covetousness, to the idea that the world must deliver you, you set your heart on others possessions and you mistake the outer scene for reality. The prophet and the priest who deal falsely correspond to parts of your own mind that tell you there is peace while your inner garden lies barren. You may say there is peace, yet fear and hunger for more rise in you; this is the inner Jerusalem within. The withdrawal of fruit—the grapes, the figs—speaks of vitality you misplaced in things rather than in God as the source. The defense of cities and the bitter water you drink are the climactic signs that your present sense of safety is a dream. But remember: you can revise this entire drama by choosing a new state. The I AM in you is the only governor of your reality; assume the feeling of true security as if it were already real, and peace is born from within.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and feel the I AM within you. Repeat that you are at peace now, secured by God, and imagine walking in a garden of inner fruit where nothing external can deprive you.
