Inner News Of Your City
Jeremiah 51:31-32 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 51 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verses show messengers moving quickly to announce the city's fall at one end. Passages are blocked, reeds burned, and the warriors are frightened.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your Jeremiah 51:31-32 describes not a historical city, but the inner town of your consciousness. The running post and messenger are the swift thoughts that advertise the state you accept as real. When the king of Babylon is informed that the city is taken at one end, you are being shown how a belief has fallen irrevocably to your attention: a line of mind once defended has lost its power to command the whole. The blocked passages and burned reeds symbolize the closing of old channels of influence and the clearing of stale premises. The fear of the warriors is the lingering fear you still entertain about that old state; but notice that the scene does not alter the 'I AM' who watches. The moment you identify with the I AM and revise the scene from within, you collapse the external signs; you awaken to a city that is yours by consciousness, not by chance. This is prophecy fulfilled: the Kingdom of God within becomes your present around which appearances rearrange.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: In meditation, picture the post running to meet the messenger and announcing the city is taken. Then revise the scene by affirming I AM ruler of this inner city, with passages unblocked, reeds burned, and fear dissolving into calm; feel it real.
