Inner Judgment of Desire

Jeremiah 5:8-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 5 in context

Scripture Focus

8They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.
9Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Jeremiah 5:8-9

Biblical Context

The passage depicts a society driven by appetite and betrayal, with a divine warning of visiting judgment for such moral laxity.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the Jeremiah text, the 'they' are states of consciousness in which desire governs the mind; the morning feed and the neighing after a neighbor's wife symbolize impulses ruling thought. The question of visitation and avenging is not an external judgment but the natural consequences that arise when you forget your true I AM and align with a fire of craving. The 'neighbor's wife' stands for any temptation that claims your loyalty, revealing the inner law you have ignored: you are the I AM, and imagination is the instrument by which you shape reality. When this impulse arises, you are invited to remember your own divine order and to revise it by returning to the state of unity with God within. The 'vengeance' is the outward echo of living apart from that inner state; you either persist in fear and craving or you awaken to your creative power and align with the inner law that governs all. Practice a concrete revision, and observe how the outer world begins to reflect the inner order you choose to maintain.

Practice This Now

Assume the I AM now: when temptation arises, say 'I AM' and 'I do not consent to any thought or action contrary to my inner God-state,' then feel a cleansing light dissolving the craving as you breathe.
