Elam Within: A Neville Goddard View

Jeremiah 49:34-39 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 49 in context

Scripture Focus

34The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet against Elam in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,
35Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their might.
36And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four quarters of heaven, and will scatter them toward all those winds; and there shall be no nation whither the outcasts of Elam shall not come.
37For I will cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before them that seek their life: and I will bring evil upon them, even my fierce anger, saith the LORD; and I will send the sword after them, till I have consumed them:
38And I will set my throne in Elam, and will destroy from thence the king and the princes, saith the LORD.
39But it shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 49:34-39

Biblical Context

Jeremiah prophesies Elam's judgment and its eventual restoration. The outer events mirror an inner shift in consciousness.

Neville's Inner Vision

Elam, in this reading, is a state of fear and separateness within your own mind. The LORD’s breaking of the bow is the unloosing of habit and ego-weaponry that keeps you small; the four winds from the four quarters of heaven represent the dispersal of fixed patterns of thought, so no single possession or fear can govern you. To be scattered is to let go of the old scripts, to invite fresh energy. I will dismay Elam before its enemies—that is, you meet your fear with awareness, not with denial, and the fear dissolves in the light of consciousness. The sword sent after them is the judgment of belief, consuming the false story of separation. Yet the throne of God is set in Elam—the true center, your I AM, takes residence where exile once ruled. The destruction of the king and princes is not punishment but the dethronement of egoic rulers. In the latter days, the captivity is reversed: you awaken to the truth that you are not exiled from God but returned to the homeland of awareness.

Practice This Now

Assume the state: I AM the throne in the midst of Elam. Feel the fear dissolve as awareness takes its seat, and imagine the winds turning toward renewal.
