Read Jeremiah 49 in context

Scripture Focus

13For I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.
14I have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent unto the heathen, saying, Gather ye together, and come against her, and rise up to the battle.
Jeremiah 49:13-14

Biblical Context

The verse describes Bozrah becoming desolate, a reproach, a waste, and a perpetual curse. It also speaks of a divine messenger who commands gathering the nations for battle.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within every heart there is a Bozrah, a stubborn state of mind that becomes desolate when I mistake myself for a separate self. When I hear, I have sworn by myself, I realize I can seal a city in waste by clinging to fear or limitation. The ambassador who comes to the heathen is the inner voice that stirs up battles, arguments, and judgments against what I desire. This is not a place in history; it is a picture of my inner atmosphere. The true prophecy calls me to wake from the rumor and recognize that the I AM is sovereign speaking within my consciousness. The Kingdom of God is the rebuilt inner city, made real as I refuse to feed desolation and instead dwell in the awareness that God and I are one. When I assume there is only One Power within me and feel it as real, the desolation dissolves, the ambassadors depart, and the mind's streets are repaved with light. Then the inner city rises into fullness, not by force but by realization.

Practice This Now

Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, place a hand on your chest, and declare, I AM within me; I revise the belief that Bozrah is desolate and feel the inner city fully restored. Hold that feeling as though it is already true.
