Jeremiah 49:1-6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 49 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jeremiah pronounces judgment on the Ammonites: their cities will be desolate, their leaders captured, and their pride exposed; yet the passage also promises a future restoration of Ammon.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the Ammonite stands as a stubborn image of security built on external treasures and tribal pride. The call to Israel and its heirs is a call to awaken your I AM, to stop looking to walls and kings for safety. When the Lord says I will cause an alarm of war in Rabbah, that is an inner alarm that unsettles the mind clinging to possessions and social status; the desolate heap and the burning of daughters symbolize the collapse of vain structures and beloved stories you have used to shore up ego. The captivity of the king and priests is the mind surrendering its controlling thoughts to the higher self. Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys that trusted in treasures? That’s your past confidence in outer security. The later restoration—bringing again the captivity—signals your inner reintegration, when your consciousness recognizes its true inheritance in the I AM, your deep, unbound awareness. The prophecy is a map for inner transformation from fear-based possession to fearless, inherited being.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the state 'I AM the heir of my life and security.' Feel that awareness filling your chest until fear dissolves.
