Scripture Focus

2Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,
Jeremiah 44:2

Biblical Context

Jeremiah 44:2 records the Lord declaring that evil has come upon Jerusalem and that the cities are now a desolation, with no one living there. It presents a stark image of judgment and emptiness as the current reality.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you the 'Jerusalem' is your state of consciousness, the sacred city you carry. The verse speaks not of distant walls, but of a mental desolation born when the I AM is ignored and the mind identifies with lack. 'Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel' is spoken to the one who awakens within: the I AM, the indwelling presence that can command the hosts of feeling and thought. When you observe 'evil' as external, you are simply animating a belief that you are separate from the divine flow. The desolation 'in which no man dwelleth' is the resonant image of a mind vacant of awareness, a city emptied of the living sense of God. But the power in you—the same yesterday, today, and forever—can revise this scene. By turning to the assumption that the city is alive with divine presence, you re‑occupy the streets with gratitude, light, and purposeful activity. Let the feeling of I AM expand until you can dwell where you truly belong: in the inner Jerusalem that is eternally inhabited by God.

Practice This Now

Assume the inner Jerusalem is alive with divine presence and desolation is past. Feel it real by breathing deeply and visualizing light filling the streets of your inner city.
