Dwelling in Divine Trust

Jeremiah 42:8-15 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 42 in context

Scripture Focus

8Then called he Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces which were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,
9And said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto whom ye sent me to present your supplication before him;
10If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you, and not pull you down, and I will plant you, and not pluck you up: for I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you.
11Be not afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom ye are afraid; be not afraid of him, saith the LORD: for I am with you to save you, and to deliver you from his hand.
12And I will shew mercies unto you, that he may have mercy upon you, and cause you to return to your own land.
13But if ye say, We will not dwell in this land, neither obey the voice of the LORD your God,
14Saying, No; but we will go into the land of Egypt, where we shall see no war, nor hear the sound of the trumpet, nor have hunger of bread; and there will we dwell:
15And now therefore hear the word of the LORD, ye remnant of Judah; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; If ye wholly set your faces to enter into Egypt, and go to sojourn there;
Jeremiah 42:8-15

Biblical Context

The people are told that if they stay in the land, God will build and plant them, and deliver them from Babylon with mercy. If they choose Egypt, they abandon the land and the covenant.

Neville's Inner Vision

The message to the remnant speaks to a state of consciousness, not a boundary on a map. To dwell in this land is to align with the I AM presence here and now, trusting that God will build and plant you through your current inner stance. The king of Babylon represents outward circumstance, but God reassures you that I am with you to save you. Mercy flows as your inner vision returns you to your own land, a restoration effected by your faithful imagining. If you insist on fleeing to Egypt, you opt for a temporary escape that denies your covenant loyalty and the reality of the divine I AM within. Your true work is to hold steady to the inner decree, letting the imaginative act reorganize your life so that fear gives way to trust and the land you inhabit becomes a living covenant.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and assume you are already dwelling in the inner land. Feel the security and mercy as real now, and silently affirm, I am planted by God and cannot be uprooted.
