Read Jeremiah 42 in context

Scripture Focus

5Then they said to Jeremiah, The LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not even according to all things for the which the LORD thy God shall send thee to us.
6Whether it be good, or whether it be evil, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God, to whom we send thee; that it may be well with us, when we obey the voice of the LORD our God.
Jeremiah 42:5-6

Biblical Context

Jeremiah 42:5-6 records a vow to obey the LORD's voice and to follow it in all things, that life may go well through faithful compliance. It frames obedience as trustful alignment with divine guidance.

Neville's Inner Vision

In this passage, the 'Lord' is not a distant tenant but the I AM—the clearer awareness within you. The vow to obey becomes a turning of your inner weather toward fidelity: you choose to listen, then you align your consciousness with that decision. When you declare that you will follow the inner guidance, you are not petitioning the future but establishing the state from which life is experienced. The promise that it may be well with you is the natural consequence of dwelling in and acting from the truth you have affirmed. Obedience here is not compliance to external rules but the steady keeping of faith with your own inner instruction. As you imagine yourself as the faithful center of your life, the outer circumstances begin to reflect the inner alignment. The movement is inward, and the outer becomes the echo of your decided state of mind.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, declare, 'The I AM is my true witness; I obey its voice now,' and feel yourself inhabiting the state of faithful alignment. Then act from that presumed obedience as if the guidance you seek is already established.
