Jeremiah 40:7-8 describes the Babylonian-appointed Gedaliah being accepted as governor, and captains and people coming to him at Mizpah.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your inner field is not a battlefield, but a theater where the I AM appoints a governor. The captains of the forces are facets of your own consciousness—ambition, fear, memory, desire—roaming in the fields of your mind. When you hear that the king of Babylon has made Gedaliah governor, you are being told that a ruling idea has been set over the land of your thoughts. Gedaliah, the son of Ahikam, represents the wise, fatherly power of your I AM, the steady decision that gathers scattered parts. Mizpah is the inner council where all voices converge under one order. Ishmael and the others are energies seeking direction, now drawn to the governor's authority. As they come to Gedaliah with their men, you feel a new unity: the feelings, memories, and aims move in alliance, not in discord. Your practice is to assume that Gedaliah rules in your heart, and to feel the alignment as already accomplished. When this inner alignment is felt, the outward life mirrors the order you have assumed.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and silently acknowledge: I am governed by the I AM; Gedaliah rules this land. Feel the inner council reporting to him, and rest in harmony.
