From Chains to Inner Release
Jeremiah 40:1-3 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 40 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jeremiah is released from captivity by the captain of the guard, and the Lord declares this evil over Jerusalem because the people did not listen and obey. The passage presents the external events as the consequence of inner choices.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the word that came to Jeremiah is the awakening of your I AM to a new state. The captain of the guard stands for your disciplined habit of mind that binds you to a story of limitation. The evil pronounced upon this place is the belief-condition you have accepted about your life; it is not punishment but a mirror of your inner conviction. When the Lord hath brought it, and done according as he hath said, you learn that the outer scene follows the inner mind when you have yielded to it and then released it. This is the moment to revise: stop identifying with the captive state and affirm that the I AM within you governs your inner kingdom. Obedience here means continuous listening to your inner voice and choosing faith that the end you desire is already present in your awareness. The exile is an inner journey back to your authentic kingdom, and the release you seek is the natural activity of consciousness that was always there, simply awaiting your acknowledgment.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes and assume you are already free; feel the release as your current reality and rest in that awareness for a few minutes.
