Biblical Context
Pharaoh's army is described as coming to help, but the Chaldeans will return to attack and burn the city. The text warns against self-deception, for the threat remains until an inner change occurs.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your life is not at the mercy of armies outside you; the armies are the movements of your own thoughts. The Pharaoh army that comes to help represents a momentary relief from fear, a belief that external power can rescue you. Yet the text also speaks of the Chaldeans returning and burning the city—an inner rekindling of old conditions until you finally see that nothing external can truly secure you apart from your own awareness. Deceive not yourselves—this is the warning you must heed: until you revise the inner state from fear to faith, the old pattern returns, and you will repeat the same scene. In Neville’s terms, the city is your state of consciousness; the invaders are the states of lack, doubt, and attachment to separate power. The remedy is simple: assume the end you desire as already true. Feel the I AM as present, inwardly breathing peace into every corner of your mind. When you live from that inner state, the outer city cannot burn what you now know in divine awareness.
Practice This Now
Sit in quiet and revise the scene by saying I am the I AM; this city is kept safe by my inner state. Feel that assurance as a warm vibration in the solar plexus for several minutes, letting the old fear fall away.
