Inner King, Outer Kingdom

Jeremiah 37:1-2 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 37 in context

Scripture Focus

1And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.
2But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.
Jeremiah 37:1-2

Biblical Context

Jeremiah 37:1-2 records King Zedekiah and Judah's leaders who refused to listen to the LORD's word spoken by Jeremiah.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within every outward reign of circumstance there is a hidden king listening to the inner Word. When Zedekiah and the people “reigned” in the land yet refused the LORD’s words through Jeremiah, they reveal a moment of inner discord—an inner state that has forgotten its unity with the I AM. The law remains unchanged: your inner consent to divine direction governs the outer scene. The moment you acquiesce to a louder ego or fear, you invite delay, confusion, and exile in the form you see. But the true interpretation is simple: the words spoken by Jeremiah are the word spoken within you by your own I AM; their authority is not external but the call to awaken to your real king. As you align your feeling and imagination with that inner Word—knowing you are already the obedient sovereign within—you will observe the outer authorities and judgments shifting to reflect your inner decree. The outer kingdom is but a mirror; the inner reign is eternal.

Practice This Now

Imaginative practice: In the next moment, assume the feeling of the obedient king and declare, 'I am listening to the I AM within me'; then dwell in that state until the outer scene begins to align.
