The Inner Roll Rewritten

Jeremiah 36:27-29 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 36 in context

Scripture Focus

27Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying,
28Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.
29And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
Jeremiah 36:27-29

Biblical Context

Jeremiah is told to replace a burnt roll with a fresh copy containing the same words, reaffirming that the divine message persists despite human denial. The inner truth remains, and the outer action shows that God’s will is unstoppable.

Neville's Inner Vision

When Jehoiakim burns the roll, the outer event mirrors the ego’s attempt to destroy a belief. Yet the word of the LORD—your I AM—lives within and cannot be erased by a single act of denial. The instruction to write again the former words is an invitation to imaginative re-creation: you revise your inner speech until it rings true in the now. The old roll represents a state of consciousness you once accepted; the new roll is the higher assertion of truth you choose to hold. The king and his burning symbolize the ego alarm at the light of your birthright, while Babylon stands for the changing conditions of life that yield when you align with the I AM. By writing anew, you refuse to surrender truth to time’s march and instead declare the kingdom of God as present experience. Your life follows your assumed, living truth, not the fear whispered by appearances.

Practice This Now

Take a moment and imagine you are writing a fresh inner roll on a quiet page within your mind. Feel the words as the I AM speaks them now, and rest in the certainty that your life is governed by that present truth.
