Inner Liberty Covenant

Jeremiah 34:8-11 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 34 in context

Scripture Focus

8This is the word that came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people which were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them;
9That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his brother.
10Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his manservant, and every one his maidservant, go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go.
11But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.

Biblical Context

Jeremiah 34:8-11 records a covenant to release Hebrew servants, but the people later reversed that act and forced them back into servitude. The text hints that true deliverance lies in the inner state, not in an outward decree.

Neville's Inner Vision

All the talk of liberty in Jeremiah 34:8-11 is not about a decree handed to objects, but a decree handed to your inner state. In Neville's vision, the king and the people represent the habits of consciousness that issue a liberty whenever it serves them, only to revoke it when fear returns. The true liberator is not the covenant made by others, but the I AM that would have you dwell in the feeling of being free now. When they heard the command that every servant be let go, they acted as if the future had changed, yet the moment fear insisted, they recaptured the servants and brought them back into bondage. So the bondage you see outside is only the repetition of an inner scene you keep replaying. To awaken, refuse to consent to the return of your own 'servants.' Assume the consciousness of complete freedom, and let the released parts of you remain released, not to be haunted by old conditions. Hold to the feeling of liberty until it is your natural state; the outer covenant will follow the consistency of your inner I AM.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes, assume you are already free in the area that feels bound, and dwell in the sensation of release. Imagine you are letting go of every inner 'servant'—fear, doubt, lack—and affirm, I AM free now until that truth becomes your felt reality.
