A New Thing in the Earth
Jeremiah 31:22-23 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 31 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage speaks of a coming reversal and a new creation: exile ends, Judah will be blessed as a habitation of justice and holiness, and the imagery of a woman encircling a man signals a complete inner renewal.
Neville's Inner Vision
To Jeremiah’s cry, I answer with the certainty of the I AM. The LORD 'hath created a new thing in the earth' is not a distant event but a present act of consciousness: a new creation forming within your inner air. The 'backsliding daughter' marks a drift from the awareness of God within; yet the prophet whispers that a feminine principle—receptive, intuitive consciousness—shall compass the masculine center, the I AM, bringing him to the circumference of your being. When exile is reversed, your inner city becomes 'habitation of justice' and 'mountain of holiness'—a state of rightness and sacredness established in awareness. This is the turning, the repentance, that returns you to your true self. Do not seek changes on the outer stage; behold within where imagination enacts the reversal. The new thing is your inner arrangement: you, created anew, living where justice and holiness are the atmosphere.
Practice This Now
Assume as already true that your inner self (the 'woman') encircles the 'man'—the I AM. Sit in quiet, feel the atmosphere of justice and holiness saturating your being, and declare, 'I am the I AM, dwelling in justice and holiness.'
