Within the heart of this verse, backsliding is a state of consciousness out of alignment with the I AM. The prophet speaks as if God already resides within, and the plea to 'return' is a revision of belief. When you acknowledge that the LORD our God is the I AM you, healing comes not from without but from reawakening to your own divine Life, the unbroken presence that greets every moment with mercy. As you shift your inner state from fear, separation, or doubt to the awareness that you are always the One, the sense of distance dissolves and the body follows the mind. The verse affirms that coming unto this awareness restores health; the inner movement creates outer harmony. Your repentance is not punishment but a shift of identity—a turning toward God as your own consciousness. In that turning, you discover you have never left the Kingdom; you simply forgot you are the King and the Kingdom is within you.
