Inner Prophecy Awareness

Jeremiah 27:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 27 in context

Scripture Focus

16Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD's house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.
17Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste?
Jeremiah 27:16-17

Biblical Context

Jeremiah warns not to heed false prophecies about a swift return of the temple vessels; true safety lies in accepting and serving the present order rather than chasing a promised restoration.

Neville's Inner Vision

In the quiet of your own consciousness, the 'priests and people' are the habits you cast in your mind. The prophets who claim restoration are the restless thoughts that promise a return to former glory. The command, 'Hearken not,' invites you to refuse those anticipations and to 'serve' the king of Babylon—the current circumstance you are living in—so the city of your life is not laid waste by fear. Neville teaches that your external world is a projection of your inner state; when you cling to a future ideal, you exile the present and invite disappointment. Instead, accept the present condition as your starting point, revise with a new assumption, and feel it real as if you are already in the desired state. The false prophecy dissolves when your awareness is set on the inner kingdom you consciously inhabit now.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly and choose a present-state you wish to claim. Silently declare, 'I am living in the kingdom now,' and, as you breathe, feel the sensation of that state becoming real in your body, letting go of the old voice.
