38But since ye say, The burden of the LORD; therefore thus saith the LORD; Because ye say this word, The burden of the LORD, and I have sent unto you, saying, Ye shall not say, The burden of the LORD;
Jeremiah 23:37-38

Biblical Context

The passage questions calling God’s messages a burden and shows that such talk springs from inner mental states. True guidance comes from the inner communication of God within.

Neville's Inner Vision

To see 'the burden of the LORD' is to mistake a passing thought for a decree from God. The prophet asks: What has the LORD answered thee? The answer is not external burden, but the inner state you permit by your assumption. When you declare 'The LORD has spoken within me,' you disarm the heavy label and invite the living I AM to express as your world. The Lord is not an external taskmaster but the awareness you call I AM. Therefore obedience and faithfulness are simply maintaining the conviction that your inner vision is already accomplished; the apparent burden dissolves as you revise your speech to reflect the inner word. Your prophecies and promises arise from the certainty that the inner Word has been spoken and you now live in its fulfillment. End the habit of naming your experiences as burdens from without; insist that the divine word is uttered in you, now, and let your outer world align to that truth.

Practice This Now

Sit quietly, close your eyes, and assume 'I AM' is the speaker within you. Revise any phrase that calls a burden from the LORD into 'The inner word has spoken; it is done,' and feel that truth as a tangible presence.
