The Word as Fire Within

Jeremiah 23:28-29 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 23 in context

Scripture Focus

28The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.
29Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
Jeremiah 23:28-29

Biblical Context

It contrasts a prophet who tells dreams with one who speaks God's word faithfully; chaff is useless next to the wheat. God's word is like fire and a hammer, capable of breaking rock.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you, the I AM speaks as the living Word. The dreamer may present vivid pictures, but the true prophet—your present consciousness—speaks faithfully. Chaff and wheat are states of mind: the chaff flutters with passing fancy, the wheat endures as truth you claim. The Word is fire, a heat that consumes doubt and clarifies intention; it is a hammer, breaking the rock of limitation with the conviction that what you affirm is already real. When a dream or image arises, you do not argue with it or dread it; you shift your allegiance to the Word you know to be true. Announce, right here and now, that the Word within you is the one reality, and feel that assertion as fact until your inner weather matches it. Imagination creates reality; thus, treat the inner Word as your governing principle and watch the outer scene increasingly reflect that inner fire.

Practice This Now

Practice now: in quiet, assume the Word within you is true—speak, 'The Word within me is truth,' and feel its fire dissolving any dream not in line with it. Then rest in the feeling that this truth is already done.
