Inner Name Over Dream Prophecies

Jeremiah 23:25-27 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 23 in context

Scripture Focus

25I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.
26How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;
27Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.
Jeremiah 23:25-27

Biblical Context

Prophets speak lies in God's name by claiming dreams; the text exposes the deceitful heart. It warns that such dream-prophecies can divert people from true worship and the real name of God.

Neville's Inner Vision

Jeremiah speaks of prophets who claim to prophesy in the name of the Most High, yet their words are the deceit of their own heart, born of dreams. In the Neville manner, the true God is not a distant name but the I AM within you—the ever-present awareness that interprets and shapes experience. When you hear the words, 'I have dreamed,' you are hearing a picture your mind has rehearsed, not an external decree. These dream-prophets urge forgetting the true name by clinging to images, just as Baal worship did in old stories. The remedy is to awaken to your own consciousness as the speaker and agent of reality, to revise the dream with the certainty that the I AM is here and now. If you insist that you are the one who creates by identity, the deceit dissolves, and worship becomes alignment with inner life. The dream fades as you claim your true name—your present I AM—and live from that incorruptible center.

Practice This Now

Practice: sit quietly, recall a troubling dream or image, then declare, 'I AM the I AM' and revise the scene so it honors your true nature. Feel the new version as real in this moment.
