Biblical Context

Jeremiah 23:2 speaks judgment on shepherds who feed my people but scatter them and neglect visitation; the text points to accountability and consequences for the inner community.

Neville's Inner Vision

Imagine the word 'pastors' as a state of consciousness you carry within, the way you attend to your own inner flock. When this state feeds the people, your thoughts and feelings, yet scatters them—when you fail to visit and tend, you create a spiritual famine in your inner city. The LORD God of Israel is the I AM within you, the awareness that notices and names your life. The charge against the pastors is really a call to accountability: your inner governors must be faithful, visit, and gather what has wandered. To be scattered is to allow wandering thoughts, fear, or doubt to drive you away from your center. The evil of their doings is not punishment in the sky but the natural result of a divided consciousness. When you refuse to be present to your inner flock, you experience separation from your own unity; when you rotate your attention back, you restore order. Thus, judgment becomes a reminder that your inner kingdom requires nourishment, visitation, and faithful care. The moment you imagine yourself tending and visiting your flock, you alter the whole landscape of your reality.

Practice This Now

Imaginative_act: Sit quietly and assume the role of the shepherd of your inner flock; imagine gathering every stray thought back into your awareness and visiting them with care. Feel the restored unity of your consciousness as already done.
