Against Thee Inner Judgment
Jeremiah 21:13-14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 21 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God declares judgment on the inhabitants who boast they are safe, promising punishment according to their deeds and a fire that devours the surrounding forest. It is a plain message that inner choices bear outward consequences.
Neville's Inner Vision
Viewed through the Neville Goddard lens, the verse then becomes a waking dream about your own states. The 'inhabitant of the valley, and rock of the plain' are fixed mental positions—the ego's defenses that say, 'we are secure; nothing may enter our habitations.' When the Lord says I am 'against thee,' it speaks not of a external judge but of the I AM awakening you to falsity: the awareness that you have believed in separation, danger, and lack. The line 'who shall come down against us?' dissolves as you realize no power exists outside your own consciousness. The truth is that punishment is the natural fruit of the thought you are entertaining; therefore the 'fiery forest' is the cleansing flame of awareness burning away the old structures of fear, guilt, and limitation. As you stand in the I AM and refuse to entertain the old identity, the forest of your mind is consumed, and only the new growth of peace and power remains. The decree therefore is not a threat but a revelation: your awareness is the only power, and it loosens the grip of seeming enemies by showing them to be projections of your own mind.
Practice This Now
Practice: Close your eyes, declare 'I am the I AM,' and revise the inner scene so the forest of fear is burned away by the fire of awareness; feel it real as peace settles into your body.
