Remembering the Inner Covenant
Jeremiah 2:31-32 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 2 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The prophet notes that the people turned away from God, as if He were a wilderness or dark land. They say they are lords and will come no more to Him, and they forget Him like a bride forgets her adornments.
Neville's Inner Vision
Your inner life is the Israel Jeremiah speaks to. The wilderness and darkness are not places outside you but states of consciousness that arise when you forget the I AM within. To say we will come no more unto thee is to surrender your mind to a false autonomy, a belief that presence can be avoided. The true vision is that the inner bride is always adorned with the ornaments of consciousness; forgetting is merely a momentary lapse in attention to the I AM. The remedy is not to search outward but to revise inwardly: assume that you are already where you seek to be, feel the I AM as your constant presence, and let awareness radiate through every thought. Say, I AM here, I remember thee, and let that affirmation dissolve the wilderness. When you persist in that feeling, the covenant returns not as an external contract but as alignment with your own awareness. The presence of God remains with you, unforgotten and unforgotten by you when you claim it again.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and say softly I AM here I remember Thee. Stay with that presence until the sense of abandonment dissolves into inner light.
