Inner Fountain of Waters

Jeremiah 2:13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 2 in context

Scripture Focus

13For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
Jeremiah 2:13

Biblical Context

Jeremiah says the people did two evils: they abandoned the true source of life and trusted in broken, non-nourishing vessels. The true nourishment is trust in God and true worship from within.

Neville's Inner Vision

From the Neville Goddard perspective, the 'fountain of living waters' is the I AM within—your assumed state of consciousness that currents your world. When you say 'we forsake' this inner spring and go about 'hewing cisterns,' you are choosing mental images and outward rituals as if they could water the dry thirst of life. The verse is not a historical judgment but a reminder: your inner state is the source. Any water you seek outside is a sign you have not yet accepted the truth that you are God in expression, that imagination creates reality. The broken cisterns cannot hold water because they are built from fear, limitation, doubt. To drink again from the fountain, revise your sense of self until the I AM feels present, real, and in charge. Begin with a single assumption: 'I am the Presence here and now.' Let impressions of lack dissolve as you entertain the fact that your inner vision is the cause, and your life will reflect that inward drink.

Practice This Now

1) Assume the feeling of the I AM presence as your daily center for a few minutes. 2) Revise any belief in external sources by mentally drinking from your inner fountain and watching your world respond.
