Inner Heart Covenant: Jeremiah 17:1-4
Jeremiah 17:1-4 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 17 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The verse describes sin as written on the heart and on the altars, shaping present life, with judgment leading to exile. It links inner disposition to outward idolatry and the loss of heritage.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within me the Judah described is a state of consciousness, not a distant nation. The 'pen of iron' and the 'diamond' engravings are my fixed beliefs, written on the table of my heart and on the horns of my altars. When I accept these engravings as truth, I awaken to the memory of old worship and the greens of hills that feed attachment, and so I justify my present conditions—lack, danger, exile. But the kingdom is within. The mountain in the field is the I AM within me, the power that fashions substance by my word. To alter the outward, I must revise the inner. I choose a new heritage now, imagine it, and feel it as real. I tell the mountain within: Be still, you are no longer the ruler of my life; I now dwell in a new reality. The fire of anger is only a lingering habit of the past; by welcoming a higher loyalty, a wiser use of substance, I let it burn out.
Practice This Now
Imaginative_act: Assume a new state now: I am the I AM within, restoring my heritage. Feel it real by breathing deeply three times and dwelling in the gratitude of what is already mine.
