Inner Recompense and Renewal
Jeremiah 16:18 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 16 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jeremiah declares that God will repay the people's iniquity with double punishment because they polluted the land and filled the inheritance with detestable things.
Neville's Inner Vision
Picture the verse as a mirror of your own inner life. God’s “land” is your mind and the “inheritance” your true self—the I AM you are before thoughts claim you. When you yield to fear, craving, or the idol of separation, you plant detestable beliefs in that land; you turn the temple of awareness into tombs of old, dead ideas, and sooner or later the inner atmosphere returns the image you have watered. The double recompense is not a punishment from without, but the twofold effect of a single inner choice: you begin to experience your thoughts twice as vividly because you have believed them, and you receive the consequence twice as fully because the inner seed has been sown. Yet you are never bound by such cycles. Return to the fidelity of the I AM—separate from idols, sanctify the inner chamber, and honor the covenant of your true nature. When you firmly identify as the I AM and dwell in its holiness, the land is cleansed and the inheritance shines with life; the detestable things are pruned away by the awareness that only God reigns within.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and assume the feeling, I am the I AM owning this inner land. See all idols dissolve and feel your true inheritance restored.
