Claiming Inner Heritage
Jeremiah 12:6-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 12 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jeremiah laments betrayal by family and the forsaking of his homeland, portraying his heritage as a living force that can be threatened. The imagery of a lion and a speckled bird signals inner turmoil and surrounding danger.
Neville's Inner Vision
Reject the surface drama: your God is the I AM, and all that Jeremiah names as brethren and heritage are figures of your inner state. When he says they have dealt treacherously and that he forsook his house and left his heritage to enemies, he is revealing the inner movement of belief resisting the new state you imagine. The heritage is not a political place but a living I AM-identity you cherish; to you it appears as a lion in the forest, roaring in your imagination, and you interpret it as danger. The speckled bird, surrounded by beasts, stands for old habits pecking at the new you. The call to assemble the beasts is the alarm of fear whenever a new state is proposed; the solution is simple: assume the end you desire as already true. Do not trust the old state’s flattering words; revise the image until your inner atmosphere resonates with the reality you intend. Your consciousness is the only country, and by affirming the new heritage you align the lions and birds with your desired state.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit in quiet, and assume the end you desire as already true. Say to yourself, 'I AM the I AM; my inner heritage is alive and protected now,' and feel the truth as a breath expanding through your body.
