Read Jeremiah 10 in context

Scripture Focus

23O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
Jeremiah 10:23

Biblical Context

The verse states that the way of man is not in himself; humans cannot direct their own steps.

Neville's Inner Vision

Beloved, Jeremiah speaks not of fate apart from effort, but of your true position: the way of man is not in himself. The 'not in man' is the recognition that your steps are not authored by the worn-out self you think you are. In the inner theatre, the I AM—your awareness—must precede every movement. Your outward plans are effects of an inner conviction. To live by reason alone is to walk in clay; to awaken is to realize you already stand under a divine director: the imagination clothed as your life. When you acknowledge that apparent direction is an outward sign of a deeper, inner arrangement, you surrender control and invite Providence. As you assume the feeling of being guided by the I AM, you revise your sense of limitation and feel the next step already taken by the self that never faileth. Practice becomes prayer: imagine the path as already fulfilled, and walk in that certainty; the steps follow the state of consciousness you cultivate.

Practice This Now

Assume the feeling that the I AM guides your path; revise any sense of lack, and imagine the next step already provided.
