From Child to Vessel

Jeremiah 1:6 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Jeremiah 1 in context

Scripture Focus

6Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
Jeremiah 1:6

Biblical Context

Jeremiah protests that he cannot speak because he is a child. The verse highlights a sense of personal inadequacy when faced with a calling.

Neville's Inner Vision

Jeremiah’s opening fear is a mirror of every moment you hesitate to claim your work. He says he cannot speak because he is a child, yet the I AM within remains unmoved by youth or circumstance. Neville would teach that the scene is a state of consciousness, not an outward event. The true speaker is the I AM in you, and imagination is the mouth through which that speaker manifests. When the sense of being merely a child arises, simply revise it: you are the voice of God in this moment, you are the authority that speaks through you now. Assume the completed state; feel the reality of mature expression flooding your nervous system. Do not seek permission from outside; assume your right to fulfill the vocation as if it were already true. In this inner turning you do not earn a gift; you realize you already are the gift, the instrument through which prophecy moves.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and affirm that you are the speaker, the I AM speaking through this body now. Hold that state until it feels real and act from it as if your words are already alive.
