Jeremiah's Inner Fortitude
Jeremiah 1:17-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Jeremiah 1 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Jeremiah is told to stand up, speak all God commands, and not fear the people's faces, for God will fortify him as a defenced city. Opponents may rise, but they shall not prevail because the I AM is with him to deliver him.
Neville's Inner Vision
What you read as a message to a prophet is a map of your own inner terrain. ‘Gird up thy loins’ is a call to tighten your will to the divine, to enter the state from which true speech arises. The 'defenced city,' 'iron pillar,' and 'brazen walls' are not outer fortifications but inner faculties—unyielding faith, fearless word, and unshakable presence. The faces of the people symbolize appearances that would tempt you to doubt; yet the promise that God is with you reveals the fortress you carry within—your I AM, the eternal witness that cannot be confounded by external attack. Opposing thoughts may arise, but they cannot prevail against a consciousness that speaks from its own invincible certainty. The deliverance spoken of is the natural fruit of identifying with this interior state. Practice: assume you are already this fortified presence and let your command flow from that unwavering realization, unbothered by outward noise.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Sit quietly, place your hand at your heart, and imagine a fortress of light rising around you; in that state repeat softly, 'I am the I AM with thee,' feeling invincibility and deliverance.
