One Lawgiver Within: James 4:12
James 4:12 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read James 4 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
There is only one lawgiver who can save or destroy. To judge another is to misplace your inner authority.
Neville's Inner Vision
Verse 4:12 whispers that there is but one Lawgiver, and that the power to judge belongs to the I AM within me. You are not watching a distant ruler; you are the very consciousness that makes the scene appear. When you separate yourself from the 'other' in judgment, you reveal your own inner state of separation. The moment you remember 'There is one lawgiver,' you stop projecting power onto others and turn your attention to the I AM who saves and destroys in mercy and truth. The 'other' is not an opponent but a figure reflecting your own desires, fears, and judgments; by recognizing unity, you invite healing. Your awareness is the authority; the world you perceive is your dream dressed in form. Practice shifting from judging to acknowledging the I AM within as the sole governor of reality. As you dwell in that awareness, you dissolve the need to condemn, and you awaken to the fact that your inner disposition creates every scene.
Practice This Now
Practice: In the next moment, assume the I AM as the sole lawgiver. When you notice yourself judging someone, revise the thought by silently declaring, 'There is one lawgiver within me; I now bless this person as a reflection of my own consciousness and restore harmony by feeling it-real as I AM.'
