Blessing the Imago Within

James 3:9-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read James 3 in context

Scripture Focus

9Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
James 3:9-10

Biblical Context

James 3:9-10 shows we bless God and curse people made in God's image. Such speech reveals a divided heart, because all are formed in the divine likeness.

Neville's Inner Vision

The tongue is a mirror of your inner state. Blessing God and cursing others are two faces of the same consciousness; they expose the same restless imagination. If the I AM within you is the source and sustainer of all life, then cursing another is a misalignment with your true nature. Remember that every person is an image-bearer of the divine, and your words must reflect that unity. The apparent contradiction vanishes when you accept that you are the living idea of God in expression. By deliberately assuming the fact that you are the I AM blessing all life, you heal the split between spirit and form. When your inner conviction becomes felt reality, your speech aligns with truth, wisdom, and integrity, dissolving judgment and planting harmony in every utterance.

Practice This Now

Practice: for five minutes, catch any sentence of judgment toward another and revise it in your mind as, 'I bless you as the image of God.' Then feel that blessing fully until it colours your next words.
