Inner Masters and Condemnation

James 3:1 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read James 3 in context

Scripture Focus

1My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
James 3:1

Biblical Context

James 3:1 warns that those who teach or lead should beware, for they will be judged more strictly; it hinges on the state of your inner self.

Neville's Inner Vision

Imagine the 'brethren' as states of consciousness and the 'masters' as the role you assume in the theatre of your mind. When you claim mastery over others, you place yourself in the seat of judgment, and the inner tribunal responds with a harsher verdict—the 'greater condemnation' that follows from criticizing the movements of your own imagination. The truth is that every teacher you seek to be on the outside is a reflection of the teacher you believe yourself to be within. Therefore, you are not condemned by God or circumstance, but by the quality of your inner assumption. To awaken, relinquish the need to assert authority and instead assume the presence of the I AM as the audience, the watcher, and the source of all wisdom. By revising your self-image to 'I am the listener and the guide of my life' and by feeling it as real, you dissolve self-condemnation and invite a wiser, more faithful discernment to arise.

Practice This Now

Close your eyes and assume the I AM as inner listener and guide. Revise your self-image to 'I am the aware witness, not a condemning master,' and feel this state settle into your heart.
