Immanuel Amid Inner Storms
Isaiah 8:7-10 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 8 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage points to overwhelming external forces, yet proclaims 'God is with us.' It invites inner trust that protection comes from the divine presence within.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the waters and the king as images arising within your own mind. The rivers are the currents of thought and fear that seek to overflow your land of awareness. The channels and banks are your habitual patterns of attention. When the word Immanuel, 'God with us', appears, you are not looking at a distant rescue but at your I AM, the ever-present awareness that animates you. In this light, the onslaught of appearances cannot overturn the reality you choose to inhabit. You may be told to gird yourselves for trouble, yet the instruction is a reminder to gird your mind with a new assumption: that God, your I AM, is with you now and governs all outcomes. If you listen to external counsel only, you will feel broken; if you align with the truth inside, you stand invulnerable. The prophecy invites you to dwell in the certainty of presence, letting the imagined floods recede as your consciousness asserts its unity with the divine. In short, the invasions externalize your inner state; restore them by claiming the one fact: God is with you.
Practice This Now
Assume 'God is with me now' as your unshakable fact; sit with eyes closed and feel the I AM wrapping your land, then revise any fear to a passing cloud.
