Quiet Faith Amid Firebrands
Isaiah 7:3-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 7 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God instructs Isaiah to meet Ahaz and tell him to calm himself; the coalition against Judah will not prevail, and disbelief prevents establishment.
Neville's Inner Vision
Think of the scene as a map of your own consciousness. The two tails of these smoking firebrands are the two ceaseless thoughts of danger that threaten your peace. Rezin, Syria, and the son of Remaliah stand for every belief that a separate power governs your life. The Lord’s declaration, It shall not stand, is the simple law by which your inner world is ordered when you believe the I AM rather than fear the appearance. To 'go forth' and meet Ahaz is to meet your present state with clear, quiet attention; to say, Take heed, and be quiet means you suspend the busy script of limitation and dwell in the one I AM—the awareness that creates. If you do not believe, you will not be established, meaning your life will reflect your held assumption. Therefore, assume the state of non-resistance, see the threat dissolve in your inner light, and let your inner sign, Shearjashub, remind you that your true self remains intact regardless of outward counsel.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and imagine meeting Ahaz at the end of the pool, receiving a calm command to be quiet; revise by affirming, 'I am quiet, I am protected, belief establishes me,' and feel it real.
