Inner Rest of Tiny States
Isaiah 7:18-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 7 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
God summons tiny creatures from distant lands, and they come to rest in desolate places within the mind. The image points to inner rest and the quieting of restless thoughts when seen through the inner eye.
Neville's Inner Vision
Within you, the fly and the bee symbolize minor currents of thought drawn toward you from far regions of your mind—habits, fears, familiar judgments. The hiss is not a threat but a summons of the I AM, the awareness that sees these states as phenomena within consciousness, not as masterful forces. When you align with I AM, these foreign states come toward you, resting in the desolate valleys, holes of the rocks, and thorny places you have kept as memory ditches. The desolation is not punishment but a stage where their energy loosens, their charge dissipates, and they pass. You do not convert them by force; you revise your assumption about who you are and what you are aware of. By perceiving them as transient visitors under the sovereignty of awareness, you disarm their grip and allow them to settle into the background. The exile and return theme shows how you release old images and allow a new sense of being to return. Providence is the steady fact that your consciousness orders every coming state through the I AM.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and envision the hiss as your I AM calling every stray thought from far corners back into your inner landscape; see them settle in the desert valleys and rocky holes until they lose power, then affirm I AM.
