Immanuel: Inner Sign Unfolding

Isaiah 7:13-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 7 in context

Scripture Focus

13And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?
14Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
15Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
16For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.
17The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.
Isaiah 7:13-17

Biblical Context

Isaiah 7:13-17 speaks of a sign to the house of David: a virgin will bear Immanuel, and, before the child fully matures, the land’s danger and kingship will shift. It points to an inner move—the birth of awareness in you that God is with you.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within you the house of David wears wearying thoughts until a sign is seen as real. The Lord does not offer distant history but the present Immanuel the I AM that is with you now. The birth of a virgin is the emergence of a new awareness that refuses evil and chooses good. Before this inner child can discern rights from wrong, the old powers of fear and pride recede, and the land of your mind is inaugurated anew by quiet trust. The days not yet come are your inner days when you yield to guidance rather than reaction; by shifting your inner weather, you invite events to align with your conscious state. Immanuel is not a future visitor but God with you as your continual awareness. When you dwell in that sign, you do not need external proofs; you feel a steady presence that transforms your response to every event, revealing that the land you opposed is already transformed by your awakened I AM.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: Sit in stillness, declare I am Immanuel here now, and feel the presence as real. Then revise any weariness by choosing the good in imagination and let the sign govern your day.
