Biblical Context
Isaiah 65:2-4 describes a rebellious people who worship in their own ways and dwell among tombs, signaling a misalignment between outward ritual and inner intent. The passage invites a shift toward true, holy worship by purifying the inner life.
Neville's Inner Vision
I tell you, the hands your awareness spreads are not reaching a distant altar but are a sign of your inner state. The rebellious people in Isaiah are your own thoughts clinging to what you think is good, instead of aligning with the one I AM within. When you walk after your thoughts, you worship a garden of bricks—rituals that satisfy the mind but do not touch the heart. The graves and monuments you dwell in are the memories of yesterday’s conditions, the old stories you keep repeating about who you are. The swine’s flesh and broth of abominable things represent doubts you allow to mingle with your inner vessel. Yet the Lord is ever-present, and the moment you turn attention to the I AM within, you stop feeding the corpse of the past and begin constructing a temple of purity. Your awakening is a deliberate inner decision to worship in spirit and truth, letting holiness govern your days and your perception of life.
Practice This Now
Imaginatively revise the inner scene now: declare, 'I am the I AM, the one presence in which all is worship.' Feel your inner hands lift in quiet acceptance, and watch the old rituals fade as your life aligns with purity of heart.
