Within the Inner Sanctuary

Isaiah 63:18-19 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 63 in context

Scripture Focus

18The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.
19We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.
Isaiah 63:18-19

Biblical Context

Verse 18-19 speaks of the holy people briefly possessing the sanctuary while adversaries trampled it. It also declares the speaker's belonging to God, but notes that God did not rule over them, and they were not called by God's name.

Neville's Inner Vision

Viewed through the I AM, this verse is not a history lesson but a map of your inner climate. The 'people of thy holiness' are awakened states that briefly dwell in the sacred center of awareness. The 'adversaries' are the lingering doubts and old conditions that trample the sanctuary when you forget your true identity. Yet the claim 'We are thine' proclaims your real allegiance to the I AM, the I that rules when you name yourself as God’s own. When it says 'thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name,' it points to the truth that, until you speak your divine name, you have not allowed the I AM to govern all inner life. The sanctuary is your living present, and its desecration dissolves the moment you refuse to identify with lack and instead dwell in the awareness that I AM is the ruler here. Practice the assumption that you ARE the I AM now, and feel that sovereign state directing every feeling, thought, and world you experience.

Practice This Now

Imaginative act: In a quiet moment, assume the state 'I AM the ruler of this sanctuary now' and feel it real; if opposition arises, revise the scene in imagination to reflect the I AM ruling over it.
