Inner Armor of Salvation
Isaiah 59:16-17 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 59 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The text says there is no external intercessor; salvation arrives from the arm of God, sustained by righteousness. It then images donning righteousness as a breastplate and the helmet of salvation, with zeal as a cloak.
Neville's Inner Vision
In your inner world, there is no external savior stepping between you and your future. When you notice that you have searched outside for intercessors and found none, you awaken that the arm of Salvation is your own awareness in action. Your state of consciousness, rightly aligned with the I AM, becomes the arm that saves you from fear, lack, and limitation. The verse tells you to clothe yourself with righteousness as a breastplate and salvation as a helmet—these are mental postures, not armor of iron. Imagine yourself lifted by the power of consciousness: righteousness protects the heart from despair; the helmet guards the mind from doubting thoughts. The garments of vengeance symbolize a righteous zeal that does not retaliate against others but expels false beliefs from your kingdom. You stand clad in zeal as a cloak, ready to act from divine order rather than reaction. The no-intercessor idea dissolves as you realize the I AM within you is the only intercessor you ever needed and you are that I AM.
Practice This Now
Close your eyes and affirm 'I Am'. See and feel yourself wearing the breastplate of righteousness and helmet of salvation, while your heart and mind are steadied by the arm of consciousness.
