Inner Worship Isaiah 57:6-8
Isaiah 57:6-8 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 57 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Isaiah rebukes reliance on external stones, offerings, and rituals as a substitute for true worship, exposing a habit of turning to others for comfort. The call is to awaken to the I AM within and abandon covenants formed with idols.
Neville's Inner Vision
Here is the inner message: the smooth stones and lofty altars are not distant shrines but states of consciousness where you have poured out your offerings to anything but your I AM. When you seek comfort in rites or in hidden memories behind doors, you are really honoring a 'you' other than God—an idol of image, habit, or craving. The ascent to a mountain bed is your rising self-image, the belief you must occupy a high place to sacrifice your true nature. Behind the posts you keep remembered images, a private liturgy that says you belong to another than I AM. In Neville’s terms, the moment you discover yourself to a self other than the I AM, you have entered idolatry. The remedy is simple: return your attention to the I AM within, the unchanging awareness that creates your world. Dismiss the old covenants and let the felt unity with God govern every act; as you do, the outward forms lose their coercive force and life moves from ritual to living reality within you.
Practice This Now
Imaginative Act: Close your eyes and declare, 'I am the I AM within; there is no other God but this awareness.' Stay with the feeling for a minute, allowing old covenants and habits to dissolve into present unity.
