Affliction is a state of mind, not a fact standing before you. The text pictures your consciousness being reset: stones of color, foundations of sapphire for your inner house—an image of stable, beautiful awareness formed by your creative act. When you claim the I AM as Presence, you are not asking God to do something outside you; you are waking to the truth that the entire city of your life is built with the colors your imagination chooses. The windows and gates are the openings of perception through which you allow the divine instruction to enter; as you acknowledge that all your children are taught by the LORD, you recognize that your thoughts and feelings are being trained to peace rather than fear. You are established in righteousness by the act of assuming this new state, and the oppressive thoughts vanish as you dwell there. The fear of terror recedes because you have made your inner foundations impregnable by faith in the I AM.
