Inner Exaltation of the Despised
Isaiah 49:7 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 49 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
The passage proclaims that God, the Redeemer, speaks to one despised by people, yet destined for honor; rulers will acknowledge him because the Lord is faithful.
Neville's Inner Vision
Read as Neville would, the verse declares that the I AM, the Redeemer, speaks to the one whom men despiseth, and yet that one is chosen for exaltation. The "despised" state is not a future judgment but a current inner disposition—the feeling of separation from the good—being invited to turn within. The 'Holy One of Israel' and the 'LORD that is faithful' are the steady laws of consciousness: when I acknowledge them, the inner servant within me aligns with power. Kings shall see and arise, princes shall worship, not as a distant event but as my inner alignment becomes my outer experience. The despised reputation is a projection of mis-perceived identity; the promise of exaltation is the inward recognition that I am already chosen by my own God-state, that I am the servant who serves the right authority—the law of God within. Therefore, the exaltation of the despised is the conversion of inner belief into outer form. The invitation is to dwell in the truth that the I AM has chosen me, and thus I live as the embodiment of the promise.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Sit quietly and declare, 'I am chosen by the Lord; I am the Holy One of my inner Israel.' Visualize rulers bowing to your inner state until the feeling of exaltation becomes your present reality.
