I Am the First and Last Within

Isaiah 48:12-13 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 48 in context

Scripture Focus

12Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
13Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.
Isaiah 48:12-13

Biblical Context

God declares Himself as the I AM, the eternal first and last; He lays the foundations of the earth and spans the heavens, and when He calls, all creation responds.

Neville's Inner Vision

Within the verse you are invited to inhabit the consciousness that God is the I AM—the ongoing presence you call into every moment. The names Jacob and Israel are not distant peoples but states of awareness called forth by your attention. When He proclaims I am the first, I also am the last, He is telling you that your own awareness is the beginning and the end of what you experience. The foundation of the earth and the span of the heavens are your inner structures—the beliefs, habits of mind, purpose, and your creative imagination—that you set in place by a single act of acknowledgment. In that moment of calling, all those inner powers align and stand up together; your thoughts, feelings, and choices coordinate into a coherent order. Providence and the Kingdom of God become practical: order follows the clarity with which you insist on being the I AM, not the reactive circumstance. You are not seeking God outside; you are awakening to the God within, the sovereign designer of your world.

Practice This Now

Sit and declare, I am the I AM, the first and last in me. Then revise your sense of life by imagining your daily scenes built on a solid inner foundation you laid by this declaration, and feel it real.
