Inner Downfall Of Pride
Isaiah 47:7-9 - A Neville Goddard interpretation
Read Isaiah 47 in context
Scripture Focus
Biblical Context
Pride and self-idolatry are condemned, warning that neglecting the inner end leads to sudden loss—the loss of children and widowhood—as outward signs of a disordered consciousness.
Neville's Inner Vision
Become aware that the 'I shall be a lady for ever' is a state of neglect in your inner life, a refusal to remember the latter end. When you declare I am as a private idol, you separate yourself from the I AM, the living God within. The two things warned—loss of children and widowhood—are not future accidents; they are inner movings reflecting a consciousness that has enthroned pleasure and sorcery over true being. The sorceries and enchantments are your habits of seeking satisfaction outside the One; they promise protection yet leave you bereft when the inner chord is struck. In truth, your reality is the I AM, not the person chasing pleasures. To escape the doom, choose a different assumption: that the I AM is your only reality here and now; you are the one mind that never loses, never suffers separation. When you dwell in that awareness, the imagined ruin recedes, and the inner life—your creative energy—flows without interruption.
Practice This Now
Imaginative act: Close your eyes, place a hand on your chest, and repeat I AM until you feel the awareness as your reality. Then revise the old statement to I AM here and now, and let this inner truth govern your life.
