Inner Counsel vs External Prophecy

Isaiah 47:13-14 - A Neville Goddard interpretation

Read Isaiah 47 in context

Scripture Focus

13Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
14Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
Isaiah 47:13-14

Biblical Context

The passage says you are wearied by the multitude of your counsels, and that the astrologers cannot save you from what is coming. They will become stubble and burn, leaving no warmth or shelter.

Neville's Inner Vision

In Neville's view, the external counselors represent the many voices of separation that flood the mind with prediction and fear. The warning that they shall be as stubble consumed by fire is a call to withdraw reliance from outward signs and to turn inward to the I AM—the living imagination that you are. When you assume a state of being already warm and safe in this divine presence, the urge to consult astrologers or prognosticators dissolves; the outer world becomes a mirror of your inner state, not its master. The ‘fire’ is inner clarity, burning away the belief that you depend on others for salvation. By dwelling in the I AM, you revise the scene: you are the warmth, you are the deliverer, and the doom of external authorities falls away as their power to define you vanishes. Your everyday life aligns with this sovereign awareness, and fear loses its grip as you awaken to your true nature as consciousness in action.

Practice This Now

Assume you are already warmed by the I AM; feel that warmth as present right now. Revise the belief that external counsel can save you and rest in the inner certainty of your own knowing.
